Tables
Formatting a range as a table, table styles and options, the Total Row, structured references, and converting back to a range.
Why use a table?
Slide 1 / 5Home βΈ Format as Table (or Ctrl+T) turns a plain list into an Excel table. You get banded rows for readability, filter buttons on every header, and headers that stay visible in place of column letters as you scroll.
Tables grow automatically: type in the row just below and it becomes part of the table, with formatting and formulas extended for you. Charts and PivotTables built on a table pick up the new rows too.
Confirm My table has headers in the dialog so your first row becomes the header row.
