What is a macro?
Slide 1 / 5A macro is a recorded set of steps Excel can replay on demand. If you do the same formatting, cleanup, or report layout every week, a macro can do it in one click.
Macros are stored as VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) code, but you don't need to write code to start: the Macro Recorder writes it for you while you work.
Turn on the Developer tab first: File ▸ Options ▸ Customize Ribbon ▸ tick Developer.
