1. Get Data — from SQL databases, Excel/CSV, SharePoint, cloud warehouses. 2. Transform in Power Query — clean, type columns, merge, unpivot (steps are recorded and repeatable). 3. Model — tables, relationships, a date table, DAX measures. 4. Visualize — report pages with charts, cards, tables, slicers. 5. Publish — to the Power BI Service; share via apps/workspaces; schedule refresh. Tableau, Qlik and Looker follow similar ideas.
