Slide 1 / 5Most healthcare questions are 'how many / how much by group': • =COUNTIF(range, criteria) — e.g. number of ED visits for 'Asthma'. • =SUMIF(range, criteria, sum_range) — total cost by payer. • =AVERAGEIF(range, criteria, average_range) — average LOS by unit. • Criteria can be text ("Medicare"), numbers, or comparisons (">9"). • Excel also has COUNTIFS/SUMIFS for multiple conditions; our lab engine uses the single-condition versions.
